Make A Wish Project 340/s "The Year of the Deere"
Saturday, 22 August 2009 00:00

Back in late 2007 a small group of snowmobile collectors got together and built a Massey Ferguson snowmobile to be auctioned off with the proceeds being donated to the “Make A Wish” foundation. The build was a hit, many friends coming from near and far to help out on this worthwhile milestone project.

The next year another sled was built, a stunning 1970 Skidoo blizzard. This build would be more complicated but with any project, the more work, the greater the return. That sled was auctioned off live at Waconia 2009 to the tune of $4000.  Total donated to the “Make a Wish” from that project tallied over $5500.

Fast forward to spring of 2009; Time for a new “Make A Wish” sled build.  The theme for next years Waconia was John Deere, so it was decided that the group would build a Deere. A 340s was donated as a solid starting point. The sled had to travel from Michigan to Minnesota for the tear down and rebuild process. A few phone calls later and the sled was on its way!

The teardown for the JD 340s was held at Justin Clacks house near Menahga MN. on June 20.  The hard working crew tore the sled down in short order and spent the rest of the day just enjoying time spent with friends. The crew each took home some piece or pieces of the snowmobile to rebuild on their own time.  The sled will be re-assembled in the fall and is scheduled to be auctioned off at the Waconia show 2010  Donations of parts, cash, and labor are being sent in from all over the world.
